Vitamin C, the Skin Superhero

by Peach & Lily

Yes, Vitamin C is a skincare superhero. We mean it. SUPERHERO.

First, Vitamin C is key to the production of collagen. And collagen is basically a lady’s best friend when it comes to skincare. Collagen is a protein that enables cellular growth and essentially gives skin strength and firmness. We always say sunspots you can laser off, but saggy skin is tough to fix. So collagen itself and anything that aids collagen production is a huge part of skincare.

On top of that, vitamin C will help your skin repair itself.

Finally, vitamin C is an antioxidant. Antioxidants slow down free radical damage. Free radicals are unstable molecules that destroy collagen and dry out your skin to accelerate fine line and wrinkle formation.

Cutting edge research! New research demonstrates that ascorbic acid 2-phosphate - a derivative of vitamin C - will neutralize these free radicals. AND reverse DNA damage.

As a sidenote, for a long time, vitamin C made my skin tingly and irritated. So I stuck with collagen serums and getting my vitamin C through food. I’m a happy camper though because finally this year my skin is loving all things vitamin C! Your skin changes continuously so figure out which ingredients and formulations are right for you!
