Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm, Nourishing
With safflower seed oil, squalane, and royal jelly extract
Dry skin can get an extra boost with the Nourishing cleansing balm from Banila Co. Like the Original cult-classic favorite, it comes in a soft sherbert texture that melts into a warm, soothing oil when applied to skin. The Nourishing balm includes super-hydrating ingredients like safflower seed oil, squalane, and royal jelly extract so you can start hydrating your skin with the first step in your skincare routine. A light citrus scent adds to the sensorial experience of cleansing. Follow with a water-based cleanser.

    (1) This cleansing balm has a pH level of 6.2

    (2) Safflower seed oil is a potent hydrator, recommended for dry or dehydrated skin. It contains a high percentage of linoleic acid and is a natural occlusive, sealing moisture into skin and, thus, helping prevent moisture loss, so skin can remain hydrated from the inside out

    (3) Squalane is a natural substance produced in our bodies, so its molecular structure is so similar to our skin’s own. That similarity helps it penetrate deep into skin to benefit skin on a cellular level, mimicking natural sebum

    (4) Royal jelly extract comes from bees. It’s full of potent ingredients that benefit skin, from amino acids that help keep skin firm to lipids that hydrate and help reduce inflammation

    (5) This cleansing balm has been formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, mineral oil, alcohol, or artificial coloring

    View All Ingredients

Less than 5% of the hundreds of brands and thousands of products we test make the cut. Our rigorous curation process ensures that your skin only gets the very best.

    1.
    Discover Talent

Our search begins in Korea. We scour the web, do consumer shop-alongs, and interview store directors, top dermatologists, esteemed estheticians, beauty labs and the brands themselves to find cult sensations with an obsessively loyal following. We repeat this intensive search every 4-6 weeks.

    2.
    Ask Questions

We’re not interested in products that get popular through marketing or celebrity endorsements alone. Instead, we look for items adored by real people. We roll up our sleeves and pore over reviews, study results and ask the right questions to make sure we understand exactly what inspires such devotion.

    3.
    Examine Ingredients

We examine every ingredient list for quality that doesn’t cut corners, and we always seek out gentle, natural formulations. If we don’t like what we see when we look under the hood, the item doesn’t make it to our showroom.

    4.
    Prioritize Details

Of course a product should work—but beautiful textures, addictive scents and über-chic, innovative packaging help to wow us, too.

    5.
    Review R&D

We think it’s important to know who’s behind a product, so we personally interview every brand’s executive and R&D teams to ensure that they’re committed to quality. In fact, we avoid brands that don’t have internal R&D capabilities, as we firmly believe beauty should be grounded in science.

    6.
    Test Formulas

Our staff and our founder personally test every product across metrics including packaging, texture, scent, user experience — and results! This process takes a minimum of 4-8 weeks. We take these products home and use them daily, to make sure that our initial analysis stands the test of time.

    7.
    Assemble Focus Groups

We assemble focus groups of various ethnicities, skin types and age ranges to test the products and ask exhaustive questions. Only items that receive at least 8 out of 10 stars across the board (and cause no adverse reactions) make it to the final round.
