Creating that perfect cat eye is one of the most popular ways to use liquid liner, but it’s also one of the hardest to learn to do. Our friend Christina always has the most beautiful eye liner, so we asked her to show us how it’s done. Take a look and try it yourself! Christina’s using three Clio products: the Gelpresso Waterproof Liner in Golden Black, the Eyeguard Waterproof Liner and the Twist-Up Mascara, Long Lash and Curling.
Here are five simple steps to get Christina’s picture-perfect look!
**
Step 1: Start with the Gelpresso pencil liner and line the entire bottom lid. Christina lines her waterline directly, but says that you can begin with lining at the lash line if you’re uncomfortable with doing the waterline. The line should be thin and just provide a bit of definition.
Step 1 close-up: Here’s how the lined lower lid looks.
Step 2: Next, she uses the Eyeguard liquid liner to do the top and create the wing. She starts with a very thin, tapered line beginning in the middle of the eye and getting thicker toward the outer edge. She warns against using the liquid liner on your entire top lash line because using liner all around your eyes can make them look small.
Step 3: To get the perfect wing, start by extending the line on your top lash line out. Imagine there’s a line from the tip of your eyelid to the end of your eyebrow and use that as a rough guide for drawing the first line. Next, go from the tip of that extended line and make an outline for the upper edge. You should end up with an empty little triangle at the outer corner of your eye.
Step 4: Open your eye to check the placement and then fill it in when you have it right!
Q-tip away the unwanted! Christina says even though she does this nearly every day, she keeps makeup removing wipes and Q-tips on hand to erase her mistakes. No shame!
Step 5: Finish with mascara, and you’re done!
You can wear this look every day like Christina does, or you can save it for special occasions…
…like playing with your dog on a lazy Friday afternoon!
